Program Overview
The School of Education at Arakan College offers a one-year online Diploma in Teacher Education, designed for individuals from Rakhine with little or no prior teaching experience but have a strong interest in entering the teaching profession.
Recognizing the unique challenges faced by educators in under-resourced and complex environments, this program equips aspiring teachers with the foundational skills and strategies needed to succeed in real-world classroom settings. The curriculum integrates foundational theories of education, advanced instructional practices, educational leadership, curriculum development, Subject focused teaching methods, and hands-on practicum experiences. Participants will engage in interactive learning, teaching demonstrations, and mentorship under the guidance of experienced educators.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in the teaching profession and commitment to becoming a teacher in Arakan (essays required).
- Be a resident of Arakan State (or of Arkan descent, if applicable).
- Possess pre-intermediate English proficiency (language test by the program).
- Hold a high school diploma or higher (including monastic, ethnic, or non-formal education equivalents).
- Submit a completed application along with all required supporting documents

Program Structure
The program follows a quarter system, with each quarter lasting 10–12 weeks (approximately three months). It consists of three quarters, separated by one-month term breaks between sessions.
The program follows the U.S. credit hour system, where 1 credit hour equals 15 contact hours of instruction. Most courses are 3 credits (45 instructional hours). However, Course 3.3 (Supervised Teaching Practicum/Internship) is 6 credits, totaling 90 contact hours.
The entire program comprises 30 credits, equivalent to 450 instructional hours. The courses in each trimester are not consecutively; instead they are taken simultaneously with some exceptions.
